How long have you been using social media?

2 years

Of the social media venues out there, which do you like the most?

Facebook. I just find it very easy to use to be able to connect and stay in touch with all the people that keep an eye on me here.

Of the social media venues out there, which do you use the most?

Facebook as above. I make sure to have my twitter and facebook fan page  addresses on my business cards and facebook fan page address on emails that I send out.

Of the social media venues out there, which do you feel you get the most from in terms in terms of SEO (search engine optimization)?

Not sure, never really looked at that. I think its item 37 on my latest “to do” list

Of the social media venues out there, which do you feel you get the most from in terms of business and personal branding?

My Facebook fan page, 2 weddings and numerous room nights booked all because of it.

Of the social media venues out there, which do you feel you get the most from in terms of actual ROTI (return on time investment) business?

Facebook fanpage as above

How long did it take you to feel comfortable using social media?

Facebook very quickly, Twitter still trying to get used to doing it. I’ll get there

Do you market your property on social media channels? and if so which ones? if not, why not?

We have our own You Tube channel and that got started after we had our inn featured on HGTV due to the history with it being a former state governor and Washington Senators home. I’m going to be adding more videos soon

If you use social media for things besides advertising, which ones do you use for other aims, i.e. twitter for making connections rather then advertising or a blog to be informative to guests and future guests.

My personal page on facebook is just for connecting and staying in touch with people. My fan page on facebook is for keeping everyone updated with what im doing with the Inn and all the renovations to it. My blog will be more about “goings on” here at the Brewster Inn. My twitter page is really just a news feed so I can get it all in one place although i have connections with others in the same or associated industries as me.

How many hours on average a day do you spend using social media (or per week or per month)?

Too many probably.. maybe up to 2hrs a day

Do you feel the time you have spent using social media has been worth it? And why?

Yes its worth it as it keeps people in touch with you and what your doing. It’s also a generator of more business and that’s got to be a good thing. Our new loyalty card that’s in the final stages of production will be a big hit as its different to whats usually done. It will get its first airing on the facebook fan page and I know there’s people there that will want to be a part of it. The concept is simple and will work.

If you’re an inn using social media and you have felt that social media has helped your business positively, send me an email at forfengdesigns@gmail.com and I’ll pop you over the questions. I’ll be doing at least one feature a week for the I can forsee ongoing future. Cheers!
